Darum gibt es in Georgia sowohl Mittelgebirgslandschaften wie auch weite Ebenen und atlantische K\u00fcstengebiete. Georgias Metropole Atlanta versucht irgendwie international zu sein, und Georgias K\u00fcste ist sehr zerfahren und besteht aus vielen Fl\u00fcssen und Inseln, die alle einen Besuch wert sind. Dazu kommt der Flughafen mit dem weltweit meisten Passagieren. Das klingt alles ganz sch\u00f6n bedeutend, aber trotzdem rangiert Atlanta in der Liste der nordamerikanischen Metropolen neben New York, Chicago oder Los Angeles eher in der zweiten Reihe.<\/p>\n<p>Mit der Olympiade 1996 hat die Stadt versucht, internationaler zu werden, was sich drei\u00dfig Jahre sp\u00e4ter allerdings nur noch an den Namen von Stra\u00dfen und Pl\u00e4tzen bemerkbar macht. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3132.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Das Zentrum von Atlanta ist der Centennial Olympic Park. Der H\u00f6hepunkt des Museums ist das Taste It!. Hier k\u00f6nnen alle Coca-Cola Drinks aus der ganzen Welt probiert werden. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear: right;\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3144.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Das neue Stadium wurde 2017 eingeweiht, und ist Atlantas Spielst\u00e4tte f\u00fcr Football und Fu\u00dfball. Zu empfehlen ist, sich mit der Seilbahn nach oben bringen zu lassen, und dann hinunterzulaufen. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP2916.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3052.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Ein Trail f\u00fchrt um den Felsen herum, und auf dem Weg kann man einige entdeckten, wie das Carillion, die Grist Mill oder den Historic Square mit H\u00e4usern aus dem 18. und 19. Das bekannteste Resultat davon ist die Band REM. Aber auch der <a href=\"https:\/\/botgarden.uga.edu\/\">State Botanical Garden of Georgia<\/a> ist einen Besuch wert. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/L1010077.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/L1010097.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Etowah Indian Mounds<\/strong><br \/>\nDie Etowah Indian Mounds ein beeindruckendes Zeugnis der fr\u00fchen Kulturen in Amerika.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear: both;\">\n<p style=\"clear: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Blog\/2024\/L1000748-Pano.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"491\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear: both;\">\n<p><strong>Amicalola Falls und Springer Mountain<\/strong><br \/>\nAmicalola Falls ist vor allem deshalb bekannt, weil es der Startpunkt des legend\u00e4ren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/appa\/index.htm\">Appalachian National Scenic Trail<\/a> ist, der nach 3.500 Kilometern am Mount Katahdin endet. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3290.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left; title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/L1000668.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Der eingentliche South Terminus des Appalachian Trail ist auf dem Springer Mountain in \u00fcber 1,000 Metern H\u00f6he. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear: both;\">\n<p style=\"clear: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/L1000674-Pano.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear: both;\">\n<p><strong>Helton Creek Falls<\/strong><br \/>\nDie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/conf\/recarea\/?recid=10546\">Helton Creek Falls<\/a> sind nicht weit von den Amicalola Falls entfernt und liegen direkt neben der Helton Creek Road. Mit einer langen Wanderung muss man also nicht rechnen, daf\u00fcr aber mit einem ordentlichen Loch in der Mobilfunkabdeckung, und online Navigationssysteme funktionieren hier nicht. Es gibt die Lower und die etwas gr\u00f6\u00dferen Upper Falls, die geradewegs aus dem Wald zu entspringen erscheinen. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3394.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3436.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Man darf \u00fcbrigens nicht vergessen, dass Georgia schon recht weit im S\u00fcden der USA liegt, und dort die Fauna einige \u00dcberraschungen bietet. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3796.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP3577.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Tallulah Falls<\/strong><br \/>\nDie <a href=\"https:\/\/gastateparks.org\/TallulahGorge\">Tallulah Gorge<\/a> liegt direkt an der Grenze zu South Carolina, und es gibt in der Schlucht mehrere spektakul\u00e4re Wasserf\u00e4lle. Man kommt nahe an die F\u00e4lle heran, aber das ist nicht so ganz einfach. Zuerst muss man sich im Interpretive Center eine Gorge Floor Permit beschaffen, und davon werden pro Tag nur 100 ausgegeben, um die Anzahl der Besucher pro Tag zu beschr\u00e4nken. Dann muss man \u00fcber unz\u00e4hlige Stufen in die Schlucht hinabsteigen, und schlie\u00dflich auch noch durch den Fluss waten. Aufgrund der zerfaserten K\u00fcstenlinie mit ihren vielen Inseln und Fl\u00fcssen liegt Savannah nicht direkt am Atlantik, sondern etwas zur\u00fcckgesetzt. Nichtsdestotrotz gibt es in Savannah einen gro\u00dfen Seehafen, den die Schiffe \u00fcber den Savannah River erreichen. <\/p>\n<p>Die ersten Kolonisten landeten hier 1733, und ihr Anf\u00fchrer, James Oglethorpe, fuhr 1743 nach England und kam nie wieder. Seine letzte Anweisung soll gewesen sein: \u201c\u00c4ndert nichts bis ich wieder zur\u00fcck bin!\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Dieser Witz beschreibt den Charakter der alten Stadt und Savannah verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber viele reizvolle Geb\u00e4ude, die es zu einem Magneten f\u00fcr Touristen macht. Bekannt geworden ist Savannah auch durch den Roman <em>Mitternacht im Garten von Gut und B\u00f6se<\/em> von <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Berendt\">John Berendt<\/a>, eines der bekanntesten B\u00fccher der j\u00fcngeren amerikanischen Literatur. Das Buch ist 1997 von Clint Eastwood mit Kevin Spacey und John Cusack verfilmt worden. Spanish Moss ist \u00fcbrigens kein Parasit, sondern es existiert und ern\u00e4hrt sich unabh\u00e4ngig vom Baum. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Tybee Island<\/strong><br \/>\nTybee Island liegt an der M\u00fcndung des Savannah River. Der Leuchtturm kann besichtigt werden, und man hat von oben eine fantastische Aussicht. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8123.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8099.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Fort Pulaski<\/strong><br \/>\nFort Pulaski ligt auf auf Cockspur Island. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8129.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:right; text-align:left;\">Ber\u00fchmt wurde <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/fopu\/\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fort Pulaski<\/a> dadurch, dass es im B\u00fcrgerkrieg trotz drei Meter dicker Mauern mithilfe moderner Kanonen mit gezogenen L\u00e4ufen (rifle) trotzdem erobert wurde. Damit war allgemein das Ende der Forts eingel\u00e4utet. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Fort Frederica<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/fofr\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fort Frederica<\/a> war eine kleine Stadt auf St. Simons Island. Sie wurde 1736 errichtet, um die englischen Kolonien im Norden gegen einen \u00dcbergriff der Spanier zu sch\u00fctzen, die den S\u00fcden besetzt hatten (das spanische Florida reichte damals bis nach Texas). Die Bewohner waren unter anderem auch Deutsche (Salzburger), die wegen Glaubens ausgewandert waren. Bedingt durch das hei\u00dfe und feuchte Klima war die Sterblichkeitsrate durch Krankheiten unter den Einwohnern allerdings hoch, und bereits nach 20 Jahren wurde Frederica wieder aufgegeben und verschwand allm\u00e4hlich von der Bildfl\u00e4che. <\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8174.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/Bilder\/Georgia\/IMGP8213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Heute ist Fort Frederica eine Geisterstadt, und man kann seiner Fantasie freien Lauf lassen, um sich das Leben dort vor fast 300 Jahren vorzustellen. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Jekyll Island<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jekyllisland.com\/\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jekyll Island<\/a> vor Brunswick war in der ersten H\u00e4lfte des 20. Jahrhunderts das Ressort der superreichen amerikanischen Familien von der Ostk\u00fcste. Die Vanderbilts, Goodyears, Rockefellers, Astors, Pulitzers, Macys and andere hatten hier ihre Winter &#8222;Cottages&#8220;. 1947 ging die gesamte Insel an den Staat Georgia und aus den Cottages wurde ein Freilichtmuseum.
