Nachdem ich schon mehrmals durchgefahren war, sollte es diesmal einen genauren Blick auf die Heimat von <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/McCain_Foods\">McCain Kartoffeln<\/a> werden. Nicht nur (aber auch) mit dem Fahrrad, weil es einfach zu viel zu entdecken gab, was einerseits viele Kilometer voneinander entfernt ist, und andererseits auch nur durch Wandern zu Fu\u00df zu erreichen ist. Das ist so, weil sich auf der eigentlich kanadischen Insel der Sommersitz des amerikanischen Pr\u00e4sidenten Franklin D. Roosevelt befindet. Daher wird der Park vom National Park Service der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika wie auch von Parks Canada betrieben. Schein gut zu funktionieren. Die einen k\u00fcmmern sich um die historischen Anwesen und die anderen um die angrenzende Natur.<\/p>\n<p>Auf die Insel kommt man von Maine auf der amerikanischer Seite \u00fcber eine Br\u00fccke (mit entsprechenden Grenzkontrollen), oder \u00fcber eine F\u00e4hre vom kanadischen Festland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/Lubec.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"321\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Ach ja, diese Br\u00fccke ist dann auch noch der westlichste Punkt des Festlands der Vereinigten Staaten, und der dazugeh\u00f6rige Ort hei\u00dft L\u00fcbeck (nat\u00fcrlich ohne Umlaut, aber mit eindeutigen Wurzeln).<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/P8160151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Roosevelts Sommerhaus, der Park drum herum, und auch ein benachbartes Haus k\u00f6nnen besichtigt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Aber nicht nur das, auf der Insel kann man auch sehr gut Fahrradfahren, und es gibt einige Wanderwege durch den Park. Ich habe das Auto gleich nach der Br\u00fccke abgestellt und alles weitere mit dem Fahrrad erkundet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"float: right; title=\" \"=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/P8160162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Ganz im Osten von Campobellow Island gibt es einen Leuchtturm auf einem Felsen. Wenn man will, kann man den Felsen durchaus schwimmend erreichen, um sich den Leuchtturm etwas n\u00e4her anzuschauen. Habe ich nicht gemacht, ein anderer Besucher schon, und vielleicht bereue ich das jetzt etwas. Also, die Empfehlung ist, Badesachen mitbringen und vor Ort entscheiden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Saint Andrews<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/St._Andrews_(New_Brunswick)\">Saint Andrews<\/a> liegt am Eingang zur Fundy Bay und ist ein richtiger Ferienort. Absteigen kann man im noblen <a href=\"http:\/\/algonquinresort.com\/\">Algonquin Resort<\/a>, und dann kann man einiges unternehmen. Unter anderem sollte man unbedingt den <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsbraegarden.com\/\">Kingsbrae Garden<\/a> besuchen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4876.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4921.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Ministers Island<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ministers_Island\">Ministers Island<\/a> ist gleich neben Saint Andrews und mit dem Auto zu erreichen&#8230; aber nur bei Ebbe. Die beiden untenstehenden Bilder zeigen die Verbindung. Rechts bei Hoch- und links bei Tiefwasser.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4807.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4806.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Die Insel ist besonders dadurch bekannt, weil dort der Sommersitz von William Van Horne war, dem Pr\u00e4sidenten der Canadian Pacific Eisenbahngesellschaft. Van Horne hat dort nicht nur sein Sommerhaus errichten lassen (Covenhoven), sondern auch eine aufwendige Landwirtschaft betrieben.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4760.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4743.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4747.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4750.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Neben dem Anwesen gibt es dieses Badehaus mit Umkleidekabinen und einem Weg hinunter zum Meer. Dort wurde ein Bassin in den Fels gehauen, wo man w\u00e4hrend der Flut im Meer baden kann.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4804.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP4800.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Von der einstmals bl\u00fchenden Landwirtschaft ist allerdings wenig \u00fcbrig, aber Van Hornes Landsitz und die Geb\u00e4ude der fr\u00fchen Siedler k\u00f6nnen besichtigt werden, und man kann die Insel auf mehreren Trails erkunden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saint John<\/strong><br \/>\nSaint John (nicht zu verwechseln mit St. John\u2019s auf Neufundland) ist New Brunswick&#8217;s Hauptstadt und mit ganzen siebzigtausend Einwohnern die Metropole an der Fundy Bay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5026.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5027.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\nDie gro\u00dfe Attraktion in Sain John sind die <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reversing_Falls\">Reversing Falls<\/a> (leider mit Papierfabrik im Hintergrund). Auf dem linken Bild flie\u00dft das Wasser von links nach rechts, und auf dem Bild daneben, knapp vier Stunden sp\u00e4ter aufgenommen, ist es genau umgekehrt. Das Wasser flie\u00dft von rechts nach links.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5088.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5133.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5069.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5072.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\nDie Maschine auf dem Bild rechts dient der Stromerzeugung durch die Gezeitenstr\u00f6mung. Der gro\u00dfe Propeller ist mit einem Generator verbunden, und wird einfach in die Str\u00f6mung geh\u00e4ngt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Fundy Trail<\/strong><br \/>\nDer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundytrailparkway.com\/\">Fundy Trail Parkway<\/a> ist ein kleiner Geheimtipp. Er ist zwar etwas abseits und ist keine Durchgangsstra\u00dfe, der Besuch lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall. Wenn man einen ganzen Tag zur Verf\u00fcgung hat, kann man den Parkway auch mit dem Fahrrad abfahren. Auch wenn es nur eine kurze Strecke ist (20 Kilometer einfach), braucht man den Tag, weil es einige H\u00f6henmeter zu bew\u00e4ltigen gibt, und man nat\u00fcrlich auch Zeit an 20 Aussichtspunkten verbringen kann. Der multi-use Trail is allerdings eher f\u00fcr Mountainbikes geeignet. Macht nix, weil auf der Stra\u00dfe auch nicht \u00fcberm\u00e4\u00dfig viel Verkehr ist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5297.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5319.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5337.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5311.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5370.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Ganz in der N\u00e4he des Fundy Trails sind die <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stmartinscanada.com\/attractions-events\/st-martins-sea-caves\/\">St. Martins Sea Caves<\/a>, die man sogar ohne Eintritt zahlen zu m\u00fcssen bewundern kann.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fundy National Park<\/strong><br \/>\nDer gr\u00f6\u00dfte Teil des <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fundy-Nationalpark\">Fundy National Park<\/a> hat erst einmal nix mit den Tidenhuben zu tun, sondern hier kann man den atlantischen Regenwald erleben, und es gibt einige Wasserf\u00e4lle zu sehen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5546.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5661.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5628.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5593.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Am s\u00fcdlichen Eingang vom Park liegt das St\u00e4dtchen Alma, und dort merkt man die Auswirkungen der Flut schon eher. Auf den Bildern unten sieht man den Hafen bei Ebbe und Flut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/P8210005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/P8210006.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Hopewell Rocks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Die <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehopewellrocks.ca\/\">Hopewell Rocks<\/a> sind das Wahrzeichen New Brunswicks und sind daher auch das Hintergrundbild auf dem F\u00fchrerschein der Einwohner. Der Eintritt in den Park berechtigt zu zwei Besuchen, bei Hoch- und bei Niedrigwasser.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5427.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5428.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Kouchibouguac<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"float: right; title=\" \"=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5747.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pc.gc.ca\/en\/pn-np\/nb\/kouchibouguac\">Kouchibouguac<\/a> (wie auch immer man das ausspricht) ist der zweite kanadische Nationalpark in New Brunswick. Ein leicht zu befahrender Fahrradweg f\u00fchrt durch die Sandb\u00e4nke, D\u00fcnen, Lagunen, Salzwiesen und W\u00e4lder des Parks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Mount Carleton<\/strong><br \/>\nDer Mount Carleton ist der h\u00f6chste Berg in Atlantic Canada. Klar, damit steht er nat\u00fcrlich ganz oben auf der Liste der zu besuchenden Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten in New Brunswick. Der <a href=\"https:\/\/parcsnbparks.ca\/MountCarleton\">Mount Carleton Provincial Park<\/a> hat aber noch mehr zu bieten als nur diesen einen Berg.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"float: right; title=\" \"=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5771.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p>Allerdings muss man erst einmal hinkommen. 138 Kilometer bis zur n\u00e4chsten Tankstelle. Das Zentrum von New Brunswick ist nicht wirklich \u00fcberbev\u00f6lkert.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5847.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP5894.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p>Ganze 820 Meter hoch, aber man f\u00fchlt sich trotzdem wie auf dem Dach der Welt. Alles drum herum ist niedriger und die Aussicht in alle Richtungen ist fantastisch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>New Brunswick Botanical Garden<\/strong><br \/>\nDer <a href=\"http:\/\/jardinnbgarden.com\/en\/\">New Brunswick Botanical Garden<\/a> liegt in Edmundston an der Grenze zu Qu\u00e9bec. Wen der sch\u00f6ne Garten nicht begeistern kann, hat gleich neben dran auch noch das <a href=\"http:\/\/patrimoinemadvic.com\/en\/musee.php?cat=Antique+Automobile+Museum\">Antique Automobile Museum<\/a> zur Auswahl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP6033.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"clear:right\" title=\" \" src=\"\/wp-content\/\/Bilder\/NewBrunswick\/IMGP6041.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"243\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"clear:both\">\n<p><strong>Campbellton<\/strong><br \/>\nDie Br\u00fccke bei Campbellton f\u00fchrt nicht nur von Queb\u00e9c nach New Brunswick, sondern es geht auch eine Stunde in die Zukunft. New Brunswick liegt in der Atlantic Standard Time (AST), und das ist nun einmal eine Stunde vor der Eastern Standard Time (EST) von Queb\u00e9c und Ontario. Als ich auf meiner <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/Wordpress\/quebec-2\/von-jonquiere-nach-campbellton\/\">2014 Tour<\/a> dort ankam, war es dann auch das erste Mal, dass ich mit dem Fahrrad von einer in eine andere Zeitzone gefahren bin.
